Press & Methods

My work is an investigation of time. Art is about the nature of being in time. I chose sculpture and the spatial media, because they conjure this sense of timespace, by being things that protrude into space. I am working with classical sculptural themes, sometimes referring to ancient sculptures:

The Hercules myth/ Torso Belvedere: Hulk, 2002
Apollo Belvedere: Killing Zone, 2005
Pygmalion myth/Frankenstein story: Dollboy, 2008

I use the human body, because it’s a mirror of its surroundings. Our body is created by the demands of evolution. The body is a vehicle for our experience of the world and we use it to do art as a survival strategy.
